Song For Flute : 1979
During my senior year in college (Ca. St. Univ. Hayward) my Composition Professor, Dr. Bassart, asked my to write something in an Impressionistic Style. Seeing how I was also studying trumpet during that time with Marvin Neslon, Dr. Bassart suggested I write a song for trumpet & string orchestra. He basically gave me a week to sketch it out, score it and turn it in. (well, if my memory serves me well, it took two weeks to complete). I don't think we actually performed the piece, but it was a great writing assignment that gave me a challenged.
40 years lates, I transcribed it into Sibelius, I finally was able to hear it! It was obvious to me, that this was for Flute. So I tweaked a few spots and placed it in a Flute Context. (I like it!) LOL......It just took me 40 years to finally hear it and fix it!
